Men are always viewed as the dominant role in religion. In
the Christian religion man has a responsible position as a leader in his family,
and is held accountable to do duties. In a marriage a man has four basic
responsibilities. These responsibilities are: An example, guider, protector,
and provider. A man is the head of the household and should portray the characteristics
of God. “The husband is the head of the wife” and guide is an intended leader.
The wife is seen as more fragile and petite of the marriage, so the man was designed
by his framework or structure to be the protector. A man is seen to provide for
his family.
I feel some of these
things are meant to be true but others not so. I feel in a marriage the husband
and wife can both be seen as an example, guider, protector, and provider. They
both can help each other in doing the same work for their family.
I definitely agree. Roles have absolutely been more even within more recent years. Marriages are more about shared responsibilities and equality which leads me to wonder how religion might begin to change. I believe religion should begin to adapt to our changing society and values or maybe create a more realistic religion for the given times, perhaps a more forgiving one.
